Michel Onfray, Doctor of Philosophy and writer, was born in Argentan, France, where he lives. He taught the final year of technical college of Caen from 1983 to 2002 before resigning to form a free seminary in order to structure an open university.

He published over twenty books in which he puts forward a theory of hedonism : What is the body? Why is it such a popular philosophical subject? How can we think as an artist? How can ethic settle in esthetical ground? What do we do of Dionysos when a complete civilization is built on Apollo? What kind of relations are built between ethical hedonism and political anarchism?

The answers suppose a libertine body, libertarian ethic, sensualist materialism, jubilant utilitarianism, generalized aesthetic and a claimed subjectivity.
