Barthélémy Toguo was born in Cameroon in 1967 and studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts d'Abidjan, the École d'Art de Grenoble and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

He has had solo exhibitions at Le Lieu Unique, Nantes, La Criée centre d'Art contemporain, Rennes, the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf in der Tonhalle, and the ARC, Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris.

Barthélémy Toguo lives in Paris, Düsseldorf and Bandjoun, Cameroon.

Barthélémy Toguo's art is motivated by socio-political issues, focussing on themes of migration, location and identity. Using most media - drawing, photography, performance, sculpture and video - the artist brings to the fore social inequalities and questions prevailing sentiments.
